Fix My Credit Report, Can I Really Do It Myself?

February 9th, 2010 ~ No Comments

I can fix my credit report by myself! In the next five minutes you can find out how to clean bad credit by challenging erroneous entries.

1. Making a note of the faults in your report is the first task to fix your credit report.

2. Send this along with anything that can aid in showing why these are erroneous. This begins a research of the erroneous entries. The mailing address will be on the report. This will begin the process to fix your credit reports.

3. You need to send the materials by registered or certified mail. This way you will have proof they were received as the agencies have a limited time to reply.

4. Send them to your creditor also. The address which concerns a dispute will not be the same as the one you send your bill to, check your statement to get the correct address. By putting in a little effort to create these letters you will accomplish your goal to fix your credit report.

Sometimes personal data is involved, as in your address. Include records to verify this like copying your driver’s license and or the bill from utilities. When the research has started they will contact the financial institute to try and verify the information you are questioning. If they cannot verify the data it will be removed. When the research is finalized the agency is supposed to send you a copy of the new report for free.

If any of your disputes are resolved, you are allowed to ask the agency to mail a new report to anyone who has received your credit report in the last six months. Not only will this help fix your credit report, if you were turned down recently this may get you that credit you were seeking.

Tip: If you send this to the creditor first and allow time the dispute may be resolved and you will not need have to send it to the bureaus.

When the report is sent back and the original report data is stated as being correct, they must give details including the name, phone number and address of the one who made the report. Check the address to ensure you used the correct address to send to the financial institute. Start another research if you do not agree this is correct. Thus you will continue your efforts to fix your credit reports.

If you put forth a little effort in writing and sending some letters, being persistent and patience allowing some time and following through when necessary you WILL be saying, “YES! I can fix my credit report!
